It feels like we've been talking about it forever…but the new t-shirts are finally here! We have women's, men's and kid's sizes. The men's and women's sizes are all going to run a little small; we wanted them to have a more fitted look. We're pretty happy about them! You can pick them up at any of our shows, or at our store at ballinthehouse.com.

Unplugged video of "Addicted." Live from the bus!
I know that we’ve been terrible at posting new videos lately…but we’re trying to get better! Here’s an “unplugged” version of our original song, “Addicted.” Dave wrote the song about trying to get out of a bad relationship. During our educational shows, we always encourage the kids to express themselves by writing their thoughts down. Whether it’s poetry or music, writing your thoughts down is a great way to express yourself. Like what you hear? This song is available on itunes! It’s also on our album, “Granite Ave.” which is available at ballinthehouse.com. Check out the video below...

Introducing our new full-time member, Nels Urtel
Some of you may have met Nels when he was touring with us as a sub. After Craig moved on, we auditioned a lot of talented people. We felt so blessed the all the people that showed interest in traveling and singing with us. During the audition process, we asked Nels if he would ever be interested in coming on full-time. It would’ve been a big step for him that included leaving his life behind in Wisconsin and moving to Boston. He thought about it, and we’re very happy that he accepted the position. If you’ve never met him, make sure to say hello when you see him. Here’s his bio…
I was born and raised in south-central Minnesota in a town named Mankato. A son of educators and musicians, I found music to be important to me and everyone around me. My father was my high school choral director and my whole immediate family impressed upon me the fun and importance of singing.
However, it was at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where music developed from a pastime to a passion. I was heavily involved with the rich and talented choral program there under the direction of Dr. Gary Schwartzhoff and shared some amazing experiences with amazing people. I was able to travel all around the country and the world. I was fortunate enough to be a part of two international tours; a four-country European tour and a tour to Argentina.
Though I loved the choral singing and training I received there, I also became involved in many other musical ensembles. I had the opportunity to sing with the award-winning UWEC Jazz Ensembles, I sang for an a cappella group called Fifth Element, for an 11 piece funk band, and played guitar, mandolin and sang for a progressive folk band called Beacon James.
Though I was able to participate in all types of music, a cappella remained a great interest of mine. After I graduated in May of 2010, I spent some time with the now defunct Inpulse from Minneapolis and subbed in with a couple different a cappella groups in the Midwest.
Now I am proud to be the “new guy” in Ball in the House! After a cross country trip in a U-Haul with my father, I’m very excited to be in the Boston area with these wonderful guys and traveling all across the country. I am so grateful that I get to combine music and travel into one, awesome job!

Craig Is Moving On
We’re sad to announce that Craig has decided to move on from BitH, and accept another performing opportunity with some friends of ours, NOTA. Craig has meant a lot to BitH over the last year and a half. We’ll miss him, and we wish him the best.
In the mean time, we’ve been touring with our sub Nels Urtel. Nels is amazing singer and performer. He’ll be touring with us for the rest of the year while we go thru the audition process. We’re already receiving lots of awesome submissions. We’ll let you know as soon as we wrap up auditions. Thanks so much for all your support through this process.
Here’s a little note from Craig to all of you…
To all of my Ball in the House fans,
For those of you who do not know, I will be leaving BitH and singing for NOTA, the Season 1 winners of the SING OFF. I announce this with bittersweet emotions.
You have all been so very accepting of me this past year and I will never forget all of the support that was shown. I will always consider the guys of Ball in the house my brothers. I cherish the bonds that we've created over the last year and I will never forget them.
This opportunity that I've been given will give me a chance to get in touch with my Latino roots and move to Puerto Rico where I have always had dreams of living. For those of you who also don't know, I am half Puerto Rican and my real name is actually Craig Cacciola-Morales. I started using Craig Range as a stage name back in L.A. for easier internet browsing due to the fact that many people found it hard to spell the whole name. Being in NOTA now, I figured the whole name would fit better.
I owe everything to Ball in the House. They gave me my first full time music job and I am eternally grateful for that. They are by far the finest, most genuine individuals I have ever known let alone worked with. We had many amazing experiences, laughs, cries... usually from laughing : ) I will always be a big fan of them and hope the feeling is mutual.
I implore you all, if you want, to keep following me along my musical journey (to quote Ball in the House). You are all very special to me and I do not want to lose touch. I will be finishing up some BitH shows through November and possibly December before moving over to NOTA full time.

2011 Sing! We would LOVE your vote!
Hey Everyone,
We’ve recently entered a National Singing Competition called the 2011 Sing. It’s a national online voting competition where the winners will receive $20,000 donated to the charity of their choice, shopping center gift cards, and a chance to record a song with Emmy-award winning song writer, Kevin Briody.
If we were to win the competition we would donate the $20,000 to the American Cancer Society through our Relay for Life Team, Team W.O.B.O. We may have a chance at this thing, but in order to win, we need your votes. You can vote ONCE A DAY until July 15th.
If we’re one of the finalists, we’ll head to North Carolina to perform in the semi-finals. Voting is SO EASY! Head to
www.birkdalevillage.2011sing.com and cast your vote (and remember to vote once every day), and with your help we may have a shot! Thanks for the support!

Welcome to the new website!
It took a while, but finally we're updated with a brand-new site, complete with our new guys, Patrick & Craig. They're pretty excited, to say the least, to be fully a part of this. Feel free to write them at their emails below and wish them a new welcome!
In the next few weeks, you'll see some new features up on the site, so keep checking back.
In the meantime, let us know what you think about the new site - dig it? Old one was better? Like the new Twitter integration? We'd love to hear from you.

Craig bio
I come from a very tight knit family from Long Island, NY. My mother was the driving force behind my music at a young age. I was singing harmonies by age 4. My first solo was the lead in "Ain't No Woman Like the One I've Got" when I was in kindergarten. I sang in my grade and high school choirs and jumped between choir and band in high school, playing the trumpet in band. I was very focused on athletics in high school playing soccer, basketball, baseball and tennis. My #12 from basketball was retired and my banner hangs on the gym wall today! It wasn't until college that I realized my musical talent.
I got a full scholarship to Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, where I received my B.A. in music with an emphasis on voice. I performed in many ensembles such as the Full Chorus, Chamber Choir and Jazz Vocal ensembles and was taught by such teachers as John Sinclair, Chuck Archard and Michelle Amato.
After college, I taught myself how to play guitar and started writing my own songs. It was then that I decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue a solo music career. I played many solo shows and others with a few different bands that I put together. I continued to write as many songs as I could, perfecting my craft. In 2007, GoDigital Media Group signed me to a distribution deal and I created my first full length album called VISUALIZE. They put my album on iTunes as well as 8 other online sites. As L.A. became more and more saturated with artists, I decided to take my chances back East as I headed to Boston to start some new musical endeavors as a larger fish in a smaller pond. I started teaching for a company called Jammin' With You based out of Newton, MA, and I sang lead with the B Street Bombers, a band that has rocked Boston for over 30 years. After 8 months in my new city, I found the members of Ball in the House! The rest is history...
((((POSITIVE ENERGY))))

Patrick bio
Patrick comes to Ball in the House from the "front lines" of the classroom. He taught chorus and music classes for 10 years in the Maine public school system. During that time he also served two churches as organist/pianist/choir director/band leader and directed two semi-professional choirs, the Boy Singers of Maine's senior group, the "Lower Octave," and the "Gorham Community Chorus." In addition, he maintained a private voice/piano studio as well.
Patrick has always been captivated by sound and began singing and playing the piano in church at an early age. Though his musical path has led him many places - the human voice has always been the one medium he constantly returned to. His first a cappella experience was singing with the Maine Steiners in Orono, Maine. After his college years were over he went on to found three separate semi-pro a cappella groups. He is excited to continue along this path with boys of Ball in the House.

Meet the New Guys!
Hey Everyone,
We want to start by thanking all of you for sticking with us through this transition. Ball in the House is truly blessed with the most amazing fans. We heard lots of amazing people during this audition process, and even made some new friends along the way. Aaron and Dan have finished their last show with us, and it was pretty difficult to get through. We have a lot of memories with those guys, and we wish them all the best as they move on to the next stage in their lives.
So moving forward, we’re proud and excited to introduce to you the new members of Ball in the House: Patrick McCarthy and Craig Range. Can’t wait for all of you to meet them. They’re very cool guys and great musicians.
And to hear what we sound like, we recorded a little sampler MP3 while rehearsing in Dave’s basement. It’s just us around a single mic, but it’ll give you a preview til you get to hear us live. Patrick sings first, then Dave, then Craig. You can hear it in the Music Player.
For now, you can also see our first promo pic with the new guys on our Facebook site. We’ll update the pictures on the website soon.

One of the best ways to connect with us these days is through Facebook. If you’re currently only on our email list here, you should consider following us on Facebook as well for much more up-to-date news, pics, video, etc. Especially with Facebook on our mobile phones, it’s much easier for us to update our status and fill you in on what’s going on with the band’s day-to-day activities.

Audition Update
So the new member(s) search and auditions are currently in progress. We’ve actually received a lot of interest from various ads we’ve put out, as well as word of mouth. Much more than we’ve ever had for past auditions, which is very exicting for us. And very comforting too, as there are some pretty amazing singers we’ve been listening to, and that gives us a lot of confidence about the future of the band. The one bad side of being flooded with applications is that it’s taken us a while to go through everybody and to set up live auditions with everyone we’d like to see. But, we wanted to let everyone know that the process is going really well and we’re very excited about the future.

In Aaron's Own Words
At the risk of being emotional and long winded, I wanted to be the first to let everyone know that the time has come for me to move on to other things. After lots of thought, soul searching and most important, prayer , I feel that it is time for me to move on and tackle other challenges. Though the decision was hard, and telling the guys was even harder, we all support each other and have NOTHING but love for each other.
For the last 8 years I have been blessed to have been able to create and share music with this amazing group of guys. I’ve been blessed to have been given the opportunity to see so many places and meet so many wonderful, amazing people. I feel that I’ve been blessed to influence students and young people and hopefully inspire them to work hard and go after their goals. That’s ALWAYS been our message, our mission. Most of all I have been truly blessed by the love and support of all the friends and fans of this band. I feel like I have been given the opportunity to live out personal dreams and goals and throughout this entire journey all of you have been right there, lifting us up. I am truly thankful for you all…
Throughout this transitional time, know that this band appreciates you all, the fans more than you’ll ever know. Things are gonna change… new guys will come in, new influences on music and style and the “ball” will roll on. Change is good. I’m excited about this change and don’t worry, I will never be too far away ;)
MUCH LOVE
A

In Dan's Own Words
After seven wonderful, adventurous, and fulfilling years, I have decided to move on from Ball in the House. Naturally, people will want to know why and it’s a difficult question to answer in some ways. For starters, I’m definitely not leaving because of any juicy, salacious reasons many people leave bands. There was no drama and no fighting. Mostly, I just feel as though this part of my life has run its course and I feel ready to return to my home and spend some time with my loved ones and my family and see what life has in store for me next.
I can’t say enough how much I have enjoyed my time here. I’ve met so many incredible people who have come out to see us and support us over the years. I’ve made lots of new friends around the country, as well as four of the best friends I’ve ever had in my bandmates. We’ve shared some pretty unbelievable things—places, relationships, experiences. Plus, my family has grown by adding a few extra brothers. J
To you, the fans and supporters of Ball in the House, I will always be grateful. When it boils right down to it, it’s your support that’s made my life possible all this time. Your buying tickets to see us brought me to Alaska, to Wyoming, to Florida in golf season (yay!), and everywhere in between. Your buying and enjoying our music put food on my table and paid my bills. I certainly hope you’ll continue to support the band—the new guy might be better than me! lol. But seriously, I still feel like they’re doing God’s work out there and they will always need you in order to do so. I’ll be a fan and supporting them, myself.
To the students we’ve been in front of: I’ve had an amazing experience that was only possible because of music. Not only did I get to perform with great musicians and see the world but I got to explore feelings and share a rare connection with people through music and performing. There’s nothing quite like that. Stick with music if you love it. Enjoy it. And maybe someday you’ll have the opportunity to do what I’ve been able to. If so, take that chance. I promise it’s worth it. J
For a guy who just wanted to sing his whole life and never thought he’d be able to, what a blessing this has been. God has been SOOOOO good to me. I’m excited to see what He has in store for me, next.
Lastly, to Ball in the House: Thanks for taking a chance on me. This was undoubtedly the best job I ever had. I love you guys and I will really miss being around you every day and performing with you.
May God bless Ball in the House and God bless you all. Take care out there,
Dan

Big Change
Big news, sad news – after many amazing years of making music together, Aaron and Dan will be leaving Ball in the House to pursue other things. You can read letters from both of them below. Crossroads Coffeehouse Cancelled, FOCS Filling In
Unfortunately, we have to cancel tomorrow’s show at Crossroads Coffeehouse in North Andover, MA, because Aaron’s great-grandmother passed away and he’ll be traveling for the funeral on Sat. We’re sorry for the inconvenience this may cause if you were planning on going or have already bought tickets. We’re told Crossroads will refund your money, but before you do anything drastic, consider still making the trip out to Crossroads to see our good friends from Five O’Clock Shadow http://www.focs.com/, who will be taking our place Sat. night. They do some pretty amazing stuff a cappella, and if you haven’t seen them before, they put on a great show.
Of course, our thoughts and prayers go with Aaron and his family too.

Bargain Bin
If you come out to any of our shows, you'll notice a new box on the merch table - the Bargain Bin. We've been filling it with all kinds of stuff - from old CDs that had cracks in the cases (so we couldn't sell for full price), to supposedly out of print items that we found hidden away, to stuff that just wasn't selling well - and all at drastically reduced prices. Come take a peek the next time you're at a show - never know what you'll find in there.

New Podcast Episodes Available
We've started up the podcasts again, putting a new one out around the 1st and 15th of every month. The first 3 are up on our website and on iTunes already, so go and check them out. You can subcribe to it on iTunes, so that you'll automatically get the new ones once they're uploaded. We've been using a 3 section format: what's going on in the band (news, cool things we've done, upcoming stuff), Inside the Band, where we talk about some behind the scenes stuff, and Outside the Band, where we talk about non-BitH related stuff (though it often ties back to the band in some way or other).
We've had a lot of fun making them, so hope that you will check them out and let us know what you think and what kind of stuff you'd like to see in them. Some of our upcoming podcasts will feature personal interviews with Aaron and Dan, continuing interviews with Dave and Ryan we did a while back. If you have any feedback or questions to ask those guys, please write to podcast@ballinthehouse.com

America's Got Talent
So we were booted off in the first part of the Vegas show. Yes, we did make it to Vegas, despite not having our audition televised, but were sent home soon after we arrived. We were shown, but only briefly in crowd shots, so there are probably people who watched the show and weren’t even sure if we made it to Vegas or what. Of course, we wish we had had the chance to see the judges one more time and make our case, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be. We wish best of luck to all the really cool people we met during our time there. Despite all this, we still feel really blessed to have had all that great Today Show coverage and to go back to our full time job of making music. Thanks to everyone for your support – it really means a lot to us. We hope you keep spreading the buzz – even without AGT, we’ll still continue to tour and keep making what we hope is amazing music for you.

Today Show and America’s Got Talent
We’ve had a pretty big couple of months with The Today Show and America’s Got Talent, but have been pretty quiet here and in our own newsletter about it all, though you can read below to find out why.
As we mentioned before, we competed back in May on The Today Show for a last chance audition for America’s Got Talent. Thanks to your votes, we won! We were immediately flown out to LA and auditioned for the AGT judges the next day. You can see video of the Today Show performance, result show, and a segment they aired later about our trip to LA by following the links below:
*Aired May/18/09 – TODAY Show Performance
* Aired May/19/09 – TODAY Show results
*Aired June/24/09 – BitH AGT/LA Segment
So what’s up with America’s Got Talent? Boy, we’ve been asked this question more times than you can even imagine. Basically, beyond what we said above, we’re not allowed to tell you anything, which is why we’ve been so quiet about it. In order to preserve the drama and surprise of the show, all contestants are held to secrecy, no matter the result. On top of that, we (along with all the other contestants) have no idea when they would show our audition, if at all. So just like many of you out there, we’ve been watching or taping each episode, anxiously awaiting any sort of glimpse at BitH. Tune in to NBC Tuesday & Wednesday nights and keep your fingers crossed!

2009
Happy New Year! We wish you all the best for 2009. We started it off very warmly (literally) with a First Night gig in Delray Beach, FL, where it was in the high 70s. Then we came back to snow in Boston. Our plans for this year include a lot of touring, as usual, some cool new merch, a revamped newsletter, and starting (and hopefully releasing) a new album – possibly covers, possibly originals, maybe both. We’re still discussing it now. But we loved the process of recording Believe, and that, along with the incredible reception it got from so many of you, has us motivated to put out some more music as soon as we can. Thanks to all of you who bought the album – we hope it in some small way enhanced your holidays. We’re looking forward to all this year will bring and hope you’ll be along for the ride with us.

Billboard World Songwriting Contest
The Billboard World Songwriting Contest is an international independent songwriting competition. The judges are picked from a select group of music industry insiders knowledgeable about songwriting, current trends, and the music business in general. Depending on what tier of judging we are on , they could consist of musicians, songwriters, music fans, and music business students.

Pictures from the IFEA Conference/World of Coca Cola
We performed last month at the International Festival and Events Association (IFEA) opening reception at the World of Coca Cola in Atlanta, GA. This is a gorgeous building with all kinds of interesting Coke related items around. One room had a few dozen soda fountains with all the different Coke drinks from around the world that you could sample. They also had the Coke polar bear, life-size. We had our picture with him, just before he ate Dave’s head. For rights reasons, we can’t reproduce the pictures on our own site, but here is the link to the general batch of photos, many of which have BitH in them: www.marcusphotography.com.

Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital Fundraiser
Some of you might remember Scott Harris, who used to sing with Ball in the House. Well, he’s running his 2nd New York City Marathon as part of “Fred’s Team” (named after the founder of the NYC Marathon, Fred Lebow, who himself died of cancer) to benefit a great cancer research center, Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital.
For this great cause, we wanted to put it out there for those of you who wanted to donate. If so, go through Scott’s site here: https://fredsteam.mskcc.org/fundraising/Controller?action=userHome&user_id=35529.

Our first Behind the Scenes podcast is up on the podcast page now. It's about our lecture/demo shows, the outreach work we do at schools. For some of you, you've probably seen these shows listed on the website, but had no idea what they were or what we did during them. For others, you may have first seen us during one of these, and will be very familiar with it all. Either way, we think it's interesting listening and hope you enjoy our first behind the scenes peek.

Just updated on the music player is Aaron's songwriting notes for Come Back To Me - check it out on the full version of our music player.
Our new music player has songs from our latest CD, Granite Ave, as well as our previous CD, Think About It, and some of our Cool Whip commercials. It also has lyrics for all our songs and songwriting notes for many of them (we'll be adding more in the coming weeks).

New Podcast: Studio #10
We still have a handful of podcasts recorded from back in the studio during the 3rd session of studio work for Granite Ave. Earlier ones had been previews, but now that the CD is here, these are actually cool behind the scenes looks at making our newest batch of songs. Hopefully you have the album already and will have the finished, mixed, and mastered versions in your head as you're listening, but for those of you who are new to the music, we put in clips of the final version at the end for comparison. Jon did a new intro leading into it.
Head to "Multimedia" then "Podcasts" to listen.
Studio Podcast #10 takes place on the first 2 days of an 8-day session in late Aug. of 2006, starting with Set the Mood. We were way off in our discussions about the disc being released in the fall. We were learning this song from scratch as we recorded it, and ending up missing a lot of the first day, so that's why there are 2 days compressed into one podcast. Dave makes a rare appearance too.
For all you BitH newbies, if you hear us talking about Tim, he's our old bass who sang with us before Ryan joined, and is on a lot of Granite Ave.

Alaska tour
We had an amazing time in Alaska back in April. Our 2-week tour took us through Seldovia, Homer, Kodiak, Fairbanks, Haines, and Ketchikan. The shows were all very well attended and we sold out all the CDs we took with us, plus a bunch more we had mailed to us, AND we also took orders for over 100 more!
Big thanks to - Susan, Mo & Cherish, Nancy, Harbormaster Marty, Jason & Evan, Tom & Liz, Paul & Jeannie, Haines Brewing Co, Lacey, and Ernie.
We took so many photos and videos of the mountains and other amazing sites that it’s taken forever to go through all the photos and edit the videos, but we hope to have some of these for you to check out soon here, though some are up already on our MySpace site. We’ll chat all about the trip and our adventures there in an upcoming podcast.

Granite Ave Releases Nationally
Boston, MA (January 16, 2007): Soul-pop/R&B artist Ball in the House, known across the country as “The Cool Whip Guys” for their a cappella sound in the Cool Whip commercials, release “Granite Ave" January 16, 2007, nationally.
“Granite Ave” will be available through selective national distribution at Best Buys and online at www.ballinthehouse.com. Ads running on MySpace have already stirred pre-release orders internationally, which is unique to an independent band. Ball in the House has also collaborated with St. Jude Children’s Hospital to be the recipient of a $1 donation for each CD sold.
Ball in the House, whose a cappella brilliance wows millions across the country, teamed up with famed producer Tim Coons. Coons is the original producer of the Backstreet Boys, ‘NSync, JoJo, Rob Thomas, Mandy Moore, and many others. Last March, "Get It Together," a single off the CD, was number one on BurnLounge for two weeks in a row, beating out the Black Eyed Peas and Kelly Clarkson in March.
Ball in the House is a five-man soul-pop/R&B group from Boston. With their extensive tour schedule (averaging 250 dates a year), Ball in the House reaches millions and is arguably one of the most successful indie bands working today. Intermixx Magazine says "taking a cappella into the realm of hip hop, and R& B, Ball in the House is a hit with young and old alike."
They have opened and performed with such artists as Gladys Knight, 98º, Jessica Simpson, Blondie, The Temptations, Smoky Robinson, and numerous others, and can be heard on national TV and radio as the voices behind the Cool Whip commercials. Boston Globe says of the group, "Ball in the House has everything you would expect to find in a successful pop/rock band...the one thing it doesn't have is instruments."
The group’s first radio single, 'Something I Don't Know," charted for six (6) consecutive weeks in the Top 100 on the national AC Charts, peaking at #17. They have received numerous awards including VH1’s Save the Music Songwriting Award 2005 (Hip-Hop/R&B Song of the Year runner-up) were top-10 finalists in the MTV Next Big Thing Contest, and multiple ACA Awards 2005, including the “Favorite Pop/Rock Group” award. They have sold over 65,000 albums with their first two releases.
