From spirituals sung in the fields to gospel, jazz, soul, hip hop, and R&B, African American music is American music. And Now I See traces that line the way it was meant to be heard: live, with nothing but voices. Ball in the House performs the songs and tells the stories behind them, where each style came from, who built it, what it cost them, and how racism shaped both the music and the artists who made it. Entertaining and eye-opening in equal measure, the show connects genres audiences think they know to the history they came out of. You'll leave hearing songs you've sung your whole life a little differently.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING
Immerse students in the exciting world of a cappella through an interactive exploration of music, teamwork, self-expression, and confidence.
Totally Vocally takes audiences behind the music, introducing the different voice parts, vocal techniques, performance technology, beatboxing, songwriting, and the history of contemporary a cappella. Along the way, students will discover how individual voices can come together to create something bigger than themselves—onstage and beyond.
